Apple Subitize Match | Number & Quantity Matching 1–10

Build early math skills while adding hands-on fine motor and movement practice with this Apple Subitize Match activity!

Students match numbered apples 1–10 to the corresponding apple seed quantities. The activity can be used as a tabletop matching task or expanded into a gross motor activity by placing the numbered apples across the room and having students move to retrieve and match each one.

This resource supports number recognition, counting, subitizing, visual scanning, visual discrimination, fine motor coordination, bilateral hand use, hand-eye coordination, and motor planning.

For smaller quantities, students can practice subitizing—recognizing how many items are present without counting each one. Larger quantities encourage counting and recognizing groups of five plus additional seeds.

Simply print, laminate, cut out the numbered apples, and add Velcro to create a reusable activity for classroom or therapy use.

Great for preschool, kindergarten, special education classrooms, OT/PT sessions, small groups, centers, and individual therapy sessions.

Includes:

  • Apple seed quantity matching mat for numbers 1–10

  • Numbered apple pieces 1–10

  • Setup and activity instructions

  • Gross motor extension ideas

Print • Prep • Match • Move!
